Czyzewo, Poland Yizkor Book Project

Dear Czyzewers,

Thanks to those of you who have continued to make donations, we were able to translate another several articles--check them out on our Czyzewo website: http://www.jewishgen.org/yizkor/Czyzewo/Czyzewo.html

We are making steady progress, but need your continued support to do more! Please do not think your donation won't make a difference if you can't afford to give much. Indeed, most contributions so far have been modest--it's just that they all add up! Every bit truly makes a difference. If everyone gave even just $10-$20 each time I write one of these emails we would, little by little, be able to complete this project. All contributions are tax deductible. Information on how to donate is included in the JewishGen Yizkor Book Project website: http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/translations.html

Click on "Donate money for a translation" which will take you to: http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen-erosity/v_projectslist.asp?project_cat=23  and then scroll down to Czyzewo or click on "Printed Contribution Form" and then likewise scroll down to Czyzewo. Since numerous yizkor books are in the process of being translated, it is important that you fill out the form indicating the contribution is for Czyzewo. The minimum contribution is $10 and it can be made by credit card or by check from a US bank in US currency.

Or, if you do not have Internet access, you can mail a check directly to JewishGen. Please indicate that your donation is for the Czyzewo Project or your donation will go to the general yizkor book fund instead of to our specific project. Mail to:

JewishGen, Inc.
2951 Marina Bay Dr., Suite 130-472
League City, TX 77573

Also, JewishGen relies almost entirely on volunteers and voluntary contributions. When making a contribution to our Czyzewo Yizkor Book translation, please consider making a contribution to JewishGen’s general operations to cover its costs of providing the infrastructure and administration for this project and all the other priceless resources and services we benefit from.

Thank you for your interest and support! Please do not hesitate to contact Jen Mohr for any reason.

Czyzewo, Poland Yizkor Book Translation Project
It is the place where hundreds of pounds of Tzitzit were made and exported by donkeys and trains, where Yiddishkeit was important and exemplified in many ways such as by he creation of a Gmiles Khosidim fund where Jewish merchants gave interest-free loans to the needy and where the group "Centos" was created to serve a warm glass of milk and roll every morning to any child who needed it as well as bettering the health of children throughout Poland. Czyzewo was a beautiful town--but, after 1939, the Nazi onslaught during the Holoocaust made it a place where youth hid in barns and were later shot and where our families were forced into a death march and killed with Jews of neighboring towns in a massacre memorialized by two monuments on an isolated road and in the deep woods and, now, by our efforts to preserve the stories in our very special and important Czyzewo Yizkor Book.
