Expert Question: I'm looking for some charts to send to my relatives to request information.  Which ones do you use?

Expert Answer: Here's a few to choose from.  I usually send:

  1. Cover letter noting our relationship and include a quick snapshot of our common relatives,
  2. Descendant's chart beginning with the oldest common ancestor
  3. Family Group Sheets filled out with their immediate family, and descendant families, parents' family and sometimes the grandparents' families
  4. Blank Family Group Sheets allowing them to fill out additional family members
  5. Personal Profile Form which guides them through some basic questions and prompts them to send a photo back with it.
